Natalia Ponomarchuk is one of the most demanded orchestra conductors in Ukraine. She is the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of Dnipropetrovsk Academic Symphony Orchestra since 2003. Ms. Ponomarchuk has also served as the Second Conductor of National Symphony of Ukraine since 2009. In addition to these positions, Natalia frequently appears as a guest conductor with Odessa Philharmonic Orchestra and Lviv Academic Philharmonic Orchestra «INSO- Lviv».
Before coming to Dnipropetrovsk, Ms. Ponomarchuk was the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of Lugansk Academic Symphony Orchestra (1997-2003). She served as the conductor of National Ensemble of Soloists «Kiev Camerata» in 2007-2009. Natalia has also conducted performances at Ukrainian international music festivals: «Kiev Music Fest», «First Performances of the Year», «Kiev Summer Music Evenings», «Youth Music», «Contrasts». Natalia had numerous appearances as an orchestra conductor in all major Ukrainian cities.
In addition to her work in Ukraine, Ms. Ponomarchuk has frequesnly toured, as a guest conductor, throughout Europe, with performances at the following halls: Teatro Real (Madrid, Spain), Auditorio Nacional (Madrid, Spain), Teatro Zarzuela (Madrid, Spain), Palau de la Musica Catalana (Barcelona, Spain), Teatro Colon (Coruña, Spain), Queen Sophia Palace of the Arts (Valencia, Spain), Conference Centre and Concert Hall (Bilbao, Spain), Kursaal (San-Sebastian, Spain), Auditorio de Galicia (Santiago, Spain), Teatro Monumentale (Lisboa, Portugal), Casa da Musica (Porto, Portugal), Sala Verdi Conservatorio (Milan, Italy), Congress Hall (Warsaw, Poland), Great Hall of Saint-Petersburg Philharmonic (Russia), Tirana Radio Symphony Orchestra (Albania).
The geography of Natalia's concert tours spans well beyond Europe. She conducted Ukrainian Music Academy Orchestra in Chongqing, China; Bilkent Symphony Orchestra in Ankara, Turkey and Orquesta Sinfónica de Michoacán in Morelia, Mexico.
Throughout her career as a conductor, Natalia made numerous audio and video recordings, both in Ukraine and abroad. She served as the conductor of Ukrainian National Radio Company Orchestra in 1996-1998, with broadcasts on Ukrainian radio and TV. Also, Ms. Ponomarchuk has audio and video recordings on Polish Radio.
Natalia appeared in concerts with many internationally renowned soloists. Among them: pianist Vadim Rudenko, cellist Alexander Knyazev, violinist Qian Zhou.
Ms. Ponomarchuk made her debut as a ballet conductor in 2012, with performances of two great Russian ballets: «Swan Lake» and «Nutcracker» by P. Tchaikovsky. Natalia led Russian Ballet Theatre of Moscow during its tour in Spain. The performance venues included Teatro Real in Madrid, Euskalduna Conference Centre and Concert Hall in Bilbao and Palacio de la Opera in Corunna.
Ms. Ponomarchuk is highly regarded by professional musicians. Yevhen Stankovych, one of the foremost contemporary Ukrainian composers, wrote the following words about her:
«Although Ms. Ponomarchuk is relatively young, she has already achieved the level of a worldclass orchestra conductor. Her conducting style is defined by strong discipline, powerful energy and the ability to deeply understand creative ideas of the music of past and present. That's why every contemporary Ukrainian composer wants his/her orchestral music to be conducted by Natalia Ponomarchuk.»
Iranian composer and conductor Alexander Rahbari shared his impression on Natalia's work:«After listening to many fine recordings and watching different DVD's of Ms. Ponomarchuk, I have to confirm that Ms. Ponomarchuk is a talented and serious conductor. She has a huge potential and capacity to master different repertoire with different orchestras. Therefore, I believe in her ability to be very fine and successful principal conductor or music director in any opera house or symphony orchestra.»High professional qualities and huge repertoire list earned Ms. Ponomarchuk the title of Honored Artist of Ukraine in 2001. She was the Second Prize winner at Stefan Turchak National Competition of Conducting (Kiev, Ukraine, 1998). Natalia also received a diploma at the Second Prokofiev International Conducting Competition (St. Petersburg, Russia, 1996).
Ms. Ponomarchuk received her Master of Music in Orchestra Conducting degree from the National Music Academy of Ukraine in 1997, under the guidance of Prof. Allin Vlasenko.
